Library of Congress Selects for Historical Web Archive

The United States Library of Congress has selected ASHP’s website for inclusion in the Library’s web archive focusing on public policy topics, citing as an important part of this collection and the historical record.

In addition to its traditional functions, the Library of Congress acquires and makes permanently accessible digital works that are playing an increasingly important role in the intellectual, commercial, and creative life of the United States. In this case, the Library is building the Public Policy Topics web archive collection to document and preserve discussions of public policy issues from diverse points of view, including national political parties, think tanks, and a variety of advocacy organizations. The Library of Congress web archives are important because they contribute to the historical record, capturing information never printed on paper that could otherwise be lost.

To properly archive, the Library may archive both this URL and other portions of the ASHP website, including public content that links to on third-party sites such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
