ASHP Launches New Clinical Skills Certificate for International Pharmacy

Program Covers Fundamental Concepts of Patient-Centered Clinical Skills for Pharmacists

ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) today launched its new Clinical Skills Certificate for International Pharmacy to teach fundamental concepts of patient-centered clinical skills for pharmacists practicing or trained outside of the United States of America. This self-guided, online continuing education program is the latest offering in ASHP’s extremely popular Professional Certificate line.

Available now, the Clinical Skills Certificate for International Pharmacy is composed of 17 modules that cover core principles of clinical pharmacy practice and the patient care roles of pharmacists. The curriculum highlights pharmacist-led activities in key clinical areas, including infectious diseases, pulmonary disorders, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, diabetes, chemotherapy, special populations, and more. The course further concentrates on evidence-based medicine for clinical decision making, transitions of care, and clinical pharmacy leadership.

The Clinical Skills Certificate for International Pharmacy Program includes the following 17 modules, all of which offer Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) -accredited continuing pharmacy education credit.

  11. Diabetes Pharmacotherapy — Type 1, Type 2, and Inpatient Management
  12. Neurological Disorders and Pain Management
  13. Pulmonary Disorders
  14. Coping with Chemotherapy: Identifying and Managing Chemotherapy Side Effects
  15. Dermatologic Disorders

  17. Clinical Pharmacist Mindset: I Am a Leader

ASHP is an accredited provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants in the Clinical Skills Certificate for International Pharmacy Program can earn up to 22 hours of ACPE-accredited continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive the professional certificate, participants must finish all of the modules and successfully complete the final assessment to demonstrate skills learned and competence gained through the program.
