Executive Committee

The role of the Section Executive Committee is to provide leadership, guidance, and advice to ASHP on ways to better meet the day to day practice needs of members.

Chair (2023-2024)

Lindsey R. Kelley, PharmD, MS, FASHP

Lindsey KelleyLindsey R. Kelley is Associate Chief of Pharmacy at University of Michigan Health, where she is responsible for community & specialty services, outpatient infusion pharmacies, research pharmacy, an allergy extract lab, and oncology service line. She serves as Director of Pharmacy Programs in the Physician Organization of Michigan Accountable Care Organization, Program Director for the PGY1 community pharmacy residency, and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Kelley earned her Pharm.D. from The University of Arizona in Tucson. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and received her M.S. from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy while completing a two-year health-system pharmacy administration residency at University of Minnesota Health. Kelley has been active with ASHP at state and national levels. She is most recently serving as Director-at-Large for the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders. Previously, she served as faculty for the Manager’s Boot Camp; member of the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Practice; member of the Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers Advisory Groups on Innovation Management and Leadership Development; and Chair, New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee. She was honored with the ASHP New Practitioners Forum Distinguished Service Award in 2010 and recognized as a Fellow in 2019.

Immediate Past Chair (2023-2024)

Lindsey B. Amerine, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FASHP

Lindsey AmerineLindsey B. Amerine is System Executive Director of Pharmacy at  UNC Health and the coordinator for the health-system pharmacy administration and leadership residency at UNC Medical Center. She is an associate a professor of clinical education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist. Dr. Amerine earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy and her Master of Science degree with an emphasis in health-system pharmacy administration from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy while completing her two-year health-system pharmacy administration residency at UNC Hospitals. Dr. Amerine has served ASHP in multiple roles. She is currently the director-at-large for the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) Executive Committee. She previously served four years on the Council on Pharmacy Practice, SPPL advisory groups on Manager Development and Leadership Development, and the New Practitioners Forum Leadership and Career Development Advisory Group. In addition, she represented ASHP on a hazardous drug workgroup through a joint effort between ASHP, HOPA, and ONS. She is the recipient of the 2012, 2013, and 2015 ASHP Best Practice Awards, 2015 ASHP Foundation Literature Award, and 2017 ASHP Foundation Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety.

Chair Elect (2023-2024)

Katherine (Kat) A. Miller, PharmD, MHA, DPLA, FASHP

Katherine Kat A MillerKatherine (Kat) A. Miller is Senior Director for Acute Care Pharmacy and Clinical Nutrition and the Residency Programs Executive at The University of Kansas Health System, in Kansas City, Kansas. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Pharmacy and her Master of Health Administration from Simmons College. She completed PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY-2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residencies at Oregon Health and Sciences University. 

Dr. Miller has served ASHP as the Chair of the Council of Pharmacy Management, the Chair of the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) Advisory Group on Innovation Management, member on the SPPL Advisory Group on Manager Development, and Chair of the New Practitioners Forum Advisory Group on Leadership and Career Development. Dr. Miller is currently Faculty for the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Academy. She has served on the Board of Directors for three state ASHP-affiliates including as President of the Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacy.

Director-at-Large (2022-2024)

Anthony Scott, PharmD, MBA, DPLA

Anthony C. Scott is s the Director of Pharmacy Services at Emory University Hospital in which he oversees all acute care services for the inpatient department. He obtained his PharmD from The University of Georgia and his MBA in Healthcare Management from New England College. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA and then completed his PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the North Florida - South Georgia VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. He is also a diplomat of the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Academy.

Prior to Emory, he served as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations at The University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) and was also the PGY1/2 Health-System Pharmacy Administrative Residency program director at UCM.  Anthony has been an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), currently serving as the Chair for the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) Educational Steering Committee (ESC). He is also representing the state of Georgia this year with the ASHP House of Delegates. He has previously served as the Vice-Chair for the ESC and was a workgroup coordinator for section advisory group on Operations & Leading Change. He has been an ASHP Foundation Research Project Member on RFID technology and development. He also served on the Committee on Nominations for the SPPL. He has also been active with the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (GSHP) since returning to the state of Georgia, currently serving on the Professional Affairs and Communications Committees.

Director-at-Large (2022-2025)

William Kernan, PharmD, MBA, FASHP

William KernanWilliam Kernan is the Executive Director of Pharmacy for the Florida region of Cleveland Clinic overseeing pharmacy services for multiple acute care hospitals, outpatient pharmacies, and oncology infusion pharmacies.  Kernan received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University and completed a PGY1 residency at UF Health in Jacksonville, Florida.  He completed his Masters in Business Administrations from Walden University and is a Fellow of ASHP. His service to ASHP includes being a member of ASHP Section Advisory Group on Innovation Management, Leadership Development, and Business Development / System Integration.  He served as the vice chair of the Section Advisory Group on Leadership Development and chair of the Section Advisory Group on Frontline Leaders.  He currently sits on the ASHP Council of Public Policy and has been a delegate for Florida to the ASHP House of Delegates.   In Florida, he has served on the FSHP Board of Directors and was President of FSHP in 2019-2020.  He is the founder of the FSHP Political Action Committee – Pharmacists for Improved Healthcare Outcomes.  He served for several years on the Florida Residency Conference steering committee and chaired the committee in 2017.

Director-at-Large Elect (2023-2024)

Amanda Hansen, PharmD, MHA, FACHE, FASHP

Amanda HansenAmanda C. Hansen is Senior Director of Pharmacy with Cleveland Clinic. She supports professional development for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy leaders, state-level practice advocacy, and fosters the infrastructure for pharmacist investigators in clinical research.  She earned her PharmD from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed both her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Infectious Diseases residencies at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Hansen earned her Master of Healthcare Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.  

Hansen’s ASHP involvement spans 20 years and includes Chair of the Section Advisory Group on Innovation Management, Chair of the SPPL Education Steering Committee, and Chair of the Council on Pharmacy Practice.  She currently services as Faculty for ASHP Managers Boot Camp as well as a Member for both the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Forecast Panel and the Council on Pharmacy Management Advisory Panel.  Hansen will soon complete her term as President of the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy.  Lastly, she is recognized as a Fellow with ASHP as well as the American College of Healthcare Executives.

ASHP Staff

David Chen, BSPharm, MBA

David ChenDavid Chen is the Assistant Vice President for Pharmacy Leadership and Planning and the ASHP Staff Liaison for the Section’s Executive Committee and member groups.

Chen joined ASHP in September 2004, and had previously served the role as Director of Pharmacy at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD, including the Kessler/Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital. Prior experience includes different Director of Pharmacy roles in Texas and Florida and central operations supervisor for the University of Maryland Medical Center Pharmacy. Additionally, he was a Regional Marketing Manager for the west coast and Regional Recruiter for the northeast with Owen Healthcare, Inc. (now part of Cardinal Health).

Chen received his B.S.Pharm. from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and completed the Director-in-Training program for Owen Healthcare, Inc in Texas. He earned his M.B.A from the Loyola University Maryland.

His responsibilities with ASHP include working with pharmacy leaders in multi-hospital health systems, coordinating pharmacy leadership and management resources with Section members, developing ASHP’s annual Conference for Pharmacy Leaders, assisting with the ASHP Foundation’s Pharmacy Forecast, and supporting achievement of the Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI).
