This podcast will discuss the impact that specialty pharmacy has made on their health system and how pharmacy is practiced, focusing on the how different groups utilize ambulatory and specialty pharmacy teams to meet the needs of our patients and our providers.

SPEAKERS

Abbi BlevinsAbbi Blevins, PharmD, MBA, CSP, CTTS, (she/her) graduated from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in 2016. She completed a postgraduate year 1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency program at Kroger Pharmacy in affiliation with the WVU School of Pharmacy. In 2018, she accepted a clinical pharmacy specialist position at Allied Health Solutions Specialty Pharmacy with WVU Medicine. She has served as preceptor to many students and residents and is the current residency program director for the PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program.

Anna DigmanAnastasia (Anna) Digman, PharmD, (she/her) is a clinical pharmacy specialist in outpatient gastroenterology for West Virginia University (WVU) Medicine in Morgantown, WV. She works with providers in the gastroenterology clinic, the institution’s specialty pharmacy (Allied Health Solutions), and infusion center to optimize patient care and medication management. Anna graduated from WVU School of Pharmacy in 2020. She completed a postgraduate year 1 residency in community pharmacy practice with Fruth Pharmacy/University of Charleston in Charleston, WV and an academic post-doctoral fellowship with WVU School of Pharmacy.

Michael TilkensMichael Tilkens, PharmD, DPLA, (he/him/his) is a clinical pharmacy manager at the UNC Health Shared Services Center Home Delivery and Specialty Pharmacy in Durham, North Carolina. In his role, he is responsible for clinical programming, residency programming, and research and outcomes work for the department. He is a co-investigator on several grant-funded research projects awarded to UNC Health to show the value of the health-system specialty pharmacy model on various patient outcomes in Rheumatology, Oncology, and in addressing Social Determinants of Health.

Heather DaltonHeather Dalton, PharmD, MS, (she/her) is the specialty pharmacy manager at Froedtert Health in Milwaukee, WI. She leads and supports the specialty clinical pharmacists at Froedtert’s Home Delivery Specialty Pharmacy and their URAC and ACHC dual-accredited patient management program. She received her Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and her postgraduate years 1/2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, NC in 2022.

Ryan NixRyan Nix, PharmD, MMHC, he/him is senior director of operations for the Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy program. In this role, Ryan is charged with opportunity development for the specialty pharmacy, while providing oversight for clinical and operations business development, ensuring pharmacy needs are met for internal and external stakeholders. Ryan has served in this role for 3 years, previously working as a clinical pharmacist supervisor and as a program director for specialty pharmacy clinical applications integration.

Drew HolmesDrew Holmes, PharmD, MS is an ambulatory pharmacy operations manager at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City. He graduated with his PharmD from The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis. Drew then completed a PGY1/PGY2 HSPAL Residency at The University of Kansas Health System and received a MS in Pharmacy Practice from The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. Drew helps lead operations for multiple ambulatory pharmacy sites across the health system.
