This podcast provides an engaging interview with three pharmacy leaders who have had successful careers and contributed significantly to health system professional associations. Hannah Kim Vanderpool, Deepak Sisodiya, and Arpit Mehta will share their insights on their professional journeys as pharmacists and association leaders. This discussion will include essential skills to becoming an effective leader, career transitions, and the power of networking through organizations. In this special edition, we would also like to highlight their personal views and heritage as an Asian American/Pacific Islander leader.

SPEAKERS

Hannah VanderpoolHannah Vanderpool is the vice president of Member Relations at ASHP. This position is responsible for organization-wide development of membership sections, forums, ASHP’s affiliated state societies, student societies of health-system pharmacy, and relationships with key partner organizations. Hannah graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Drake University and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Hannah received her Master’s degree in Organizational Management from The George Washington University in Washington DC. Hannah has worked at ASHP since 1997 and has traveled extensively, speaking to practitioners and students about ASHP strategic initiatives and issues in health-system pharmacy.

Deepak SisodiyaDr. Sisodiya, or Deepak (preferred), joined UCLA Health in the summer of 2022. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Michigan after which he completed his general residency at Stanford Health Care. After practicing as an Inpatient generalist for nearly 10 years, he made a career change and moved into Health System Leadership. Early in his leadership journey, Deepak completed a Masters in HealthCare Administration which helped support his various leadership roles at Stanford including serving as the lead of Pharmacy of its health system for nine years before joining UCLA.

Arpit MehtaArpit Mehta is a director of pharmacy at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) in Pittsburgh, PA. Arpit also serves as a Coordinator for the HSPAL Residency program at AGH. Arpit graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Maryland and Doctor of Pharmacy from LECOM School of Pharmacy. Arpit completed a 24-month PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency at Allegheny General Hospital. He also received his MPH from University of Pittsburgh and MHA from Walden University.

Audrey NakamuraAudrey T. Nakamura is the pharmacy manager of Surgical Services at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree with highest distinction from the University of Michigan. She completed a PGY1 Residency at UCSF and a PGY2 Administration Residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Audrey was a past Distinguished Service Award Recipient after serving on the ASHP Programming Committee and the SPPM Advisory Group on Communication and Publications.
