This podcast will overview real world examples of technician retention and recognition programs, and will feature an interview with technician leaders from two institutions to gain insight to their experiences and preferences related to technician retention and recognition programs.
Rebekah Stottlemyer is a Certified Pharmacy Technician that works at OhioHealth as a Medication Sourcing Administrator. She has a strong interest in medication management and shortage handling. While at OhioHealth, she has moved through the CPhT leadership career chain, moving from acute CPhT, to Area Specialist CPhT specializing in surgery, to Lead Technician, to her current roll of MSA. She presented a saving program she developed at the ASHP Midyear symposium in 2019.
Karly Franck’s pharmacy career began in retail before she transitioned to M Health Fairview, where she worked as a pharmacy technician for five years. She then started her role as Pharmacy Operations Manager in January 2012. Since then, she has used her experience as a pharmacy technician to lead various process improvement initiatives, including implementing medication scribes in the hospital and expanding dispensing automation throughout the hospital.
Karly earned Minnesota’s Outstanding Technician Award in 2016.
Joshua Ilenin is Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Services at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. In this role, he oversees inpatient sterile compounding and two hospital-based outpatient infusion center pharmacies.
Josh earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University. He completed an ASHP accredited PGY1/PGY2 residency in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at Riverside Methodist Hospital and an MS in Health System Pharmacy Administration from the Ohio State University.
