This podcast episode explores the role and advancement of technicians in a specialty pharmacy setting. We will discuss how to best prepare to join this field, as well as how to advance yourself in your current role.

SPEAKERS

Wendi OwensWendi Owens is a CPhT who staffs as a Clinical Program Manager with the Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy (VSP). She has been with the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Pharmacy team since 2013. Prior to joining VUMC, she staffed as a lead technician at a community pharmacy. She is a passionate advocate for the advancement of technician scope of practice within the future of pharmacy and uses her passion to be a voice for her team.

Charisse MarshCharisse A. Marsh has been a CPhT since 2004. She has staffed various roles in a wide variety of pharmacies, such as: Community Retail pharmacy, Mail Order Pharmacy, and Compounding Pharmacy. Currently she has a vital role in the Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy as an embedded clinic technician for the Hematology Clinic. When she is not working, she likes her quiet life at home with her fiancée Cyrus, their small dog Lilly, and her plants.

Nichole FosterNichole Foster is the Program Director of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She has 18 years of experience in many facets of pharmacy practice. Nichole has earned her MEd, MBA, and CPhT-Adv and is the mother of twins. In her spare time, she likes to do outdoor activities with her husband and kids and workout at her CrossFit gym.
