The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recently updated the pneumococcal vaccination recommendations and guidelines to include two newly approved vaccines. The updated guidelines provide a more streamlined method for patients across age and risk groups.

Belma CorpeningBelma Corpening, PharmD, AAHIVP, is a clinical pharmacy specialist at the Infectious Disease Clinic at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO. In her current role, Belma cares for patients living with HIV in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, manages her clinic’s HIV prevention program through a collaborative practice agreement, and is establishing clinic participation in clinical trials for HIV prevention. Belma is passionate about HIV treatment and prevention, viral hepatitis, and immunizations.

Han FengHan Feng, PharmD, BCPS, serves as Supervisory Pharmacist for Medication Safety at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. Following graduation, he completed a PGY1 residency at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado and a PGY2 Medication-Use Safety residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Feng’s passion is to understanding how the human factors of modern healthcare practice impact patient safety.
