NPF Chair Ashley Duty
Reasons for selecting this career path:
During my internship at Johns Hopkins I got to know their administrative residents and realized that the work they were doing was very interesting to me. From there I realized that I had a greater desire to lead others and to impact many patients at the same time through administration rather than clinical practice. I am challenged every day as a manager to create solutions to problems and removed obstacles for my employees.
Interest in the NPF Executive Committee:
I was given the opportunity to represent students on the ASHP Student Forum Executive Committee in 2011-12. It was a wonderful experience and I enjoyed getting to meet students from around the country and work with the Advisory Groups to enhance student participation within their SSHPs and ASHP. I served on an NPF AG and then served as Vice Chair of the NPF last year. I am so excited to continue to serve on the NPF Executive Committee as Chair and serve as the voice for new practitioners.
Professional Interests:
- Pharmacy leadership
- medication safety
- social media
Benefits of being involved in ASHP as a New Practitioner:
Access to Board Certification resources such as the Resident Reward and Recertification program, networking, and meeting peers around the country.
Fun Fact:
I took Dr. Abramowitz’s first selfie.
