Autoverification Implementation in Health-System Pharmacy

Listeners will learn about two current autoverification projects at two different academic health systems. The speakers provide recommendations on successful implementation of autoverification and challenges with implementation.

SPEAKERS

Julie PawolaJulie Pawola, PharmD received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her primary practice area is informatics as a member of the UW Health Meds Management team and is the coordinator for the PGY-2 informatics residency. She supports medication use within the electronic medical record (EMR) with a primary focus on the inpatient aspect of the EMR. She is active in both the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and American Society of Health System Pharmacist, currently serving as the Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology’s Education Committee. Her interests including clinical decision support, optimizing the EMR to expand the role of the pharmacists. promoting informatics education to pharmacy students and incorporating it into residency training.

Ann VoAnn Vo is currently a PGY2 pharmacy informatics resident with Advocate Aurora Health. She received her B.S. in Bioinformatics from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015 and went on to obtain her PharmD in 2019. Afterwards, she completed her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency with the Aurora Health Care Metro, Inc. program. Her practice interests currently include clinical decision support. Ann is also involved with the SOPIT Section Advisory Group on Clinical Decision Support and Analytics.

Shannel GaillardShannel Gaillard received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and her MBA from The Citadel Graduate College. She is currently a PGY-1 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Resident at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Health. She completed her PGY-1 project of Auto-Verification in the Perioperative Setting at UW Health in March 2021.
