Executive Committee

The role of the Section Executive Committee is to provide leadership, guidance, and advice to ASHP on ways to better meet the day to day practice needs of members.

Chair (2020-2021)

Jessica W. Skelley, Pharm.D., BCACP

Jessica SkelleyJessica W. Skelley is an Associate Professor at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy, where she earned her Pharm.D. and completed an
ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency in ambulatory care. She is also a Clinical Pharmacist at St. Vincent’s East Family Medicine in Birmingham, Ala.,where she holds a dual faculty appointment with the family medicine medical residency program. As a practitioner, Skelley has implemented new clinical services at two different sites, including cardiometabolic disorders and transitional care management. She currently serves ASHP as Director-at-Large for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP). Her previous service includes Chair and Vice Chair, Section Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability, and alternate state delegate, ASHP House of Delegates. She is a frequent speaker at ASHP meetings on practice management and clinical topics and has co-authored multiple documents on ASHP’s Ambulatory Care Resource Center.

Zachary A. Weber, Pharm.D., BCACP, BCPS, CDE

Zachary WeberZachary Weber is the Director of Interprofessional Education and a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice for Purdue University College of Pharmacy, as well as an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, Ind.

Weber earned his Pharm.D. from Purdue University and completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, followed by an ambulatory care residency at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C. He is board-certified in pharmacotherapy and ambulatory care, and is a certified diabetes educator. Weber’s leadership in ASHP includes service as Vice Chair and Chair for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP) Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability, and as a Best Practice Awards submission reviewer. He has developed and contributed to multiple SACP resource documents and is a frequent presenter at both the Summer Meetings and Midyear Clinical Meeting.

Jaclyn A. Boyle, Pharm.D., M.B.A., M.S., BCACP, BCPS

Jaclyn BoyleJaclyn Boyle is Assistant Dean, Student Success and Associate Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). Her responsibilities include developing ambulatory services at her practice site, including transitions of care and clinical services, and establishing an outpatient pharmacy. Her teaching responsibilities include ambulatory care, practice development, and precepting APPE students and PGY1 pharmacy residents.

Boyle earned her Pharm.D. from NEOMED, her M.B.A. from the University of Findlay, and her M.S. from The Ohio State University. She completed PGY1 pharmacy practice and PGY2 internal medicine/academia residencies at UH Geauga Medical Center. Boyle’s ASHP involvement includes serving as a member of both the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability and the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners Advisory Group on Small and Rural Hospitals. She was an appointed member of the 2016–2017 ASHP Women in Pharmacy Leadership Steering Committee and was recognized in 2015 by ASHP as a Political Advocacy Rising Star.

Jamie J. Cavanaugh, Pharm.D., CPP

Jamie CavanaughJamie J. Cavanaugh is an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacist with appointments at the University of North Carolina (UNC) as Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Clinical Education in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Cavanaugh graduated from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy before completing a pharmacy practice residency at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, N.C., and a PGY2 ambulatory care-specialized residency at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. Cavanaugh’s leadership in ASHP includes serving as Chair for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP) Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability. She is a frequent presenter at ASHP meetings. She has developed and contributed to multiple SACP resource documents, an ASHP webinar, and several ASHP Connect posts. She was recognized by ASHP with a Best Practice Award in 2014 for her professional work focused on interdisciplinary transitional care.

Melanie R. Smith, Pharm.D., BCACP, DPLA
Director, Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners

Melanie SmithMelanie R. Smith, Pharm.D., BCACP, DPLA is the Director of the ASHP Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners. In this role, Dr. Smith serves as the staff liaison to the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners Executive Committee. She also acts as an ASHP information resource and provides guidance to ASHP members on pharmacy practice in various ambulatory care practice settings.

Previously, Dr. Smith was the Director, Educational Programs within ASHP's Educational Services Division. In this role, she helped coordinate continuing educational programming for ASHP's national meetings. Prior to joining ASHP, Dr. Smith was a Clinical Pharmacist II with United Healthcare as well as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with the Roudebush VA Medical Center.

Dr. Smith received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency at the Lexington VA Medical Center in 2008 and obtained her Board Certification in Ambulatory Care in 2011.
