September  2022

It is a great honor and pleasure to have the opportunity to serve as you Chair of the ASHP Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners (SCPP), alongside five fabulous pharmacy leaders that provide unique perspectives that will pave the path forward for the Section.

Meet the SCPP 2022 Executive Committee: Ashley Storvick, Director of Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services at Advocate Aurora Health will serve as Chair-elect. Courtney Isom, Pharmacy Administrative Coordinator at Cone Health Community Health Wellness Cetner Pharmacy and Amanda Place, Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy specialist at the Ascension St. Vincent Joshua Max Simon Primary Care Center will serve as Directors-at-Large. Lastly, Jordan Rush, Director of Pharmacy for System Retail and Outpatient Pharmacy Services for UNC Health will serve as Director-at-Large-elect.

Community pharmacy practitioners continue to inspire and energize us as an executive committee. And we are excited to discover where the full potential lies to showcase the value of innovative community-based practices that support optimal medication use across the continuum of care that extends beyond prescription fulfillment.

Our journey as an executive committee this past year laid the foundation for the work ahead of us. This upcoming year we will kick-off our advisory groups  that will help us us advance community- based practice. Please stay up to date on our the resources, education offerings, and update by checking your e-mail bi-monthly for the community pharmacy newslink.

Based on member requests, this past year, we launched a number of resources, and will continue to build on them with our over 50 advisory group volunteers. Find practice resources such as: educational webinars related to community pharmacy on ASHP’s elearning platform, podcasts related to community pharmacy practice and hot topics in pharmacy, ASHP’s Community Pharmacy Resource Center, and ASHP’s Community Pharmacy Practice Case Studies.

We are also pleased to continue a national platform that meets monthly and gives the opportunity for our community-based pharmacy residents to network, share, connect and inspire one another. If you haven’t received your personalized e-mail invite yet, make sure to register here.

Lastly, we look forward to hearing from you. The Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners will be holding three roundtable discussions during the Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in 2022.

Section members will serve as virtual breakout room facilitators and will engage attendees in the following topics:

  • Defining Practice Excellence in Community Pharmacy Practice on Sunday, December 4 at 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
  • Innovative Clinical Service Models in Community-Based Pharmacy Practice on Tuesday, December 6 at 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
  • Advancing Community-Based Pharmacy Training and Education on Wednesday, December 7 at 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM
