Dear Colleagues,

I am thrilled to serve as you Chair of the ASHP Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners (SCPP), alongside five phenomenal pharmacy leaders that are dedicated to transforming community pharmacy practice to better benefit our patients, communities, and members.

Meet the SCPP 2023-2024 Executive Committee:

  • Courtney Isom, Pharmacy Administrative Coordinator for Cone Health Community Pharmacy at Wendover Medical Center will serve as Chair-elect.
  • Amanda Place, Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy specialist at the Ascension St. Vincent Joshua Max Simon Primary Care Center will serve as a Director- at- Large

In partnership with our members, the executive committee has developed a strategic plan with the following areas of focus: Business Development and Practice Excellence, Education, Communication, and Training and Patient Care. These are the guiding pillars inspiring our volunteer leaders to create new resources for you, our members. Existing podcasts, educational webinars, case studies, and more can be found at our Community Pharmacy Resource Center.

Our members can easily stay up to date, engaged and provide their insight year-round. Our community pharmacy NewsLink will be in your inbox bi-monthly. ASHP Connect provides a forum for gathering insights from other practitioners and sharing resources. In addition, we encourage our community- based pharmacy residents to join us every other month for the Section’s Community Pharmacy Resident Network.

Lastly, we look forward to hearing from you at the 2023 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in Anaheim, CA. The Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners will be holding three roundtable discussions through the conference and encourage you to join us. We will be discussing the following topics:

  • Digital Health in Community Pharmacy Practice – Sunday, December 3 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Practice Ready! Elevating Community-Based Pharmacy Rotations for Students and Residents – Tuesday, December 5 at 12:30 p.m.
  • The Business of Pharmacy: Diving into the Business and Financial Viability of Community Pharmacy Practice – Wednesday, December 6 at 11:15 a.m.

With so many ways to engage with the Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners, we look forward to your insights and guidance in our upcoming year!
