In this episode, we will review the ISMP Best Practice #8 recommendations for Smart Pump Use and describe the process used at one health system to implement these recommendations.

>Dr. MilliganDr. Milligan has been the System Medication Safety Pharmacist for BJC HealthCare, a diverse 12 hospital system located in St. Louis, Missouri and Clinical Lead for the Adverse Drug Event Preventable Harm Initiative since 2008. He has served as Director-at-Large for the ASHP Section of Inpatient Care and been awarded the ASHP Foundation awards for Excellence in Medication Use Safety and for outstanding contribution to biomedical literature.

Naomi BaraschNaomi Barasch is a clinical specialist pharmacist at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Naomi has done considerable work with standardization and alignment of smartpumps and dose error reduction systems across BJC Healthcare with a focus on medication safety. She is a graduate of Drake University and completed her PGY-1 residency at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in 2010.
