Dear Friends,
Spring is here and innovation is in the air. There are new and exciting initiatives going on across the country. As I continue to connect with new and old friends, it’s encouraging to see a passionate group of people pushing the envelope with technology, launching new businesses, and exploring ways to share their stories.
On the ASHP front, I was really excited to see initial action out of the ASHP Innovation Center. According to the website, the ASHP Innovation Center invests in technology solutions that enhance safe & effective medication use and highlight pharmacy’s role in improving outcomes. The deadline for the initial research-focused grant (up to $30,000) has passed, but we hope to see more things like this in the future.
ASHP Summer Meeting is also on the horizon. There’s a track dedicated to Influencers & Innovators. I’m looking forward to hearing more about what's in store for Seattle. It’s been great to connect with many influencers during my time as Chair. Here are some neat things going on if you haven’t stumbled upon them yet:
- Headspace for ASHP Members - a meditation & mindfulness app, now a free benefit for all ASHP members
- The Happy PharmD - a service that helps pharmacists create inspiring work & lives
- Your Financial Pharmacist - education, products, services, and free resources to help you obtain financial freedom
- Elevate Pharmacy Summit - a virtual conference in April to help you market, implement, and monetize pharmacist-led clinical clinical services
Some of these services were inspired by ASHP members & staff, and others come from our colleagues who call other pharmacy associations our professional home. No matter where innovation begins, encouraging our profession to explore, create, take bold action is how we will lead healthcare through this technology transformation.
