This podcast will highlight a recently added resource center on interprofessional education (IPE). Discussion will cover the need for an IPE resource center, how to use the resource center, and some best practice from our experts' experience. Janet Cooley, PharmD, BCACP, is the Director of Experiential Education, an Associate Professor, and the Associate Director of Interprofessional Education at the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. Dr. Cooley has presented over 50 times at the state and national level, has over 25 peer-reviewed publications topics including precepting, experiential learning, and interprofessional education. Her interests include preceptor education, interprofessional education, curriculum development and assessment, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Julie Kalabalik-Hoganson, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, MPH, is the Chair of Pharmacy Practice and a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She has been in the pharmacy academia space for the past 12 years. Dalabalik-Hoganson serves on the NJSHP Public Policy Council, as an ASHP delegate, Chair-Elect for the AACP Public Health SIG, and serves on the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators SELE SAG.
Jessica (Jessie) Merlo, PharmD, BCACP, is an assistant professor at Pacific University where she coordinates the pharmacy skills courses. She also teaches the management of pulmonary disease, pain, and substance use disorders. Jessie received her PharmD at St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 2017. She then completed a PGY1 residency at the West Texas VA followed by an ambulatory care/academia focused PGY2 at Pacific University and Virginia Garcia. Additionally, Jessie currently practices at a family medicine clinic.
Lisa Hong, PharmD, BCPS, APh, is an Associate Professor and Director of Interprofessional Education at Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy. She designs and implements interprofessional education/collaboration opportunities within her courses, at her acute internal medicine practice site, across campus, and in local or global outreach. Dr. Hong has been involved with the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators for the past two years and has enjoyed working with colleagues to create a valuable resource center for those interested in improving interprofessional education in various settings.
Phillip H. Lee, PharmD, BCPS, is an associate professor at Belmont University College of Pharmacy in Nashville, TN. As part of his faculty responsibilities, he serves as clinical pharmacist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Lee received his PharmD from the University of Tennessee. He then completed a PGY1 residency at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN and a PGY2 residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University. Prior to joining Belmont, Lee was on faculty at the Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University.
