April 2022

Hello New Practitioners!

Spring has sprung and with it comes new opportunities for growth. Perhaps you are a resident finishing up your PGY1 or PGY2 and starting a new job. ASHP has resources to help you navigate this transition here, including how to find your dream job on CareerPharm, interviewing tips, and how to navigate student debt and start investing in your future. Consider registering for the April 26 virtual career fair to find your next opportunity. Before we skip to that glorious end-of-year celebration, let’s make sure we help you wrap up your research projects. Here are some tips for a successful poster presentation and manuscript publication.

Or maybe you are a new practitioner who is gearing up to be a primary preceptor for students and residents next year. Check out our preceptor toolkit for resources on how to create a syllabus and calendar, orient your learners, precept across generations, manage conflict, and more.

Are you looking for new leadership opportunities? Apply to serve on a New Practitioner’s Forum Advisory Group by May 1. These groups are made up of the amazing members who have been putting together these resources for New Practitioners. Finally, do not forget to be kind to your mind during this whirlwind of a season. Visit ASHP’s wellbeing page for resources and try out your free membership to the Headspace app!

We cannot wait to connect with you more on the NPF Connect community or Twitter. If you have any ideas or comments you would like to share, send us an email at [email protected]. Best of luck whichever direction you may be growing this spring!
